Security Licence TAS – How To Become A Security Guard

What is a Security Guard?

Becoming a security guard means stepping into a role that is critical for maintaining safety and security across diverse environments. Security guards are responsible for protecting assets such as property, equipment, personnel, and funds from harm, theft, and other risks. Their presence on-site is a deterrent to unauthorised activities, and they actively patrol areas to prevent and mitigate potential threats.

Security guards also play a crucial role in monitoring alarm systems and surveillance equipment, staying vigilant for signs of danger or criminal behavior. They are trained to respond effectively to security breaches, minimising damage and ensuring safety. In the event of incidents, they document details for their employers and coordinate with emergency services like police and fire departments as necessary.

Moreover, in some settings, security guards handle reception duties, managing the flow of visitors by verifying clearances and authorisations.
