For domestic students, our Certificate II in Security Operations uses a blended delivery method combining independent, self-paced online training with in-person, practical learning.
We strongly recommend completing the online portion first to prepare for your face-to-face training. Practical classes run over fulltime hours, beginning 9am and continuing until 5pm each weekday over five days, with additional self-paced exams for you to complete at home.
Those on an international student visa must complete the entirety of this security training course in person. After two weeks of in-person training, a third week is reserved to help students work effectively to complete any outstanding assessments.
If any student has a first aid certificate they have completed prior to this security operations course and can provide evidence, they will have one less day of in-person classes to attend.
Book early, as space is limited for both our domestic and international classes.

A security officer provides quality services to protect security clients, persons, clients, venues, or personal effects. They enact security procedures such as risk management, monitoring crowd behaviour for inappropriate, dangerous, or criminal activity, and apply effective communication skills to manage conflict to resolve security risk situations which could threaten the safety of people or a person’s property while complying with legal and procedural requirements. They may also be required to provide first aid if necessary.
No, not entirely. For domestic students security courses are delivered through a blended learning mode consisting of a combination of in-person practical learning and independent online study.

Your application must include 100 points of formal identification including at least one of the following : passport, ImmiCard, driver’s licence, or a photo identification card. Yes. After completing your Certificate II in Security Operations, you can apply to the Queensland Office of Fair Trading for a security licence lasting for six months, one year, or three years. Renewing your licence does not require refresher training.
Yes, in most circumstances it is possible to transfer your security agent licence to a different state. This is done through a process known as mutual recognition, of which the details and costs are different for each state. You can find out how to apply for mutual recognition by checking the government website of the state you are looking to transfer to.
Security officers are in high demand in the hospitality industry. As such, both a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or Responsible Gambling Services (RSG) qualification complement a security training course and open up a wider range of employment opportunities for a prospective security officer.
