First Aid Course Tullamarine

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

The course designated HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, is a fundamental program for acquiring skills needed to respond to both accidents and emergency situations. In this first aid course, you will gain knowledge in various emergency response techniques. These include proper methods for cleaning and dressing wounds, the correct use of an Epi-Pen, understanding the significance of the recovery position, providing basic life support, and effective communication of emergency scenarios via phone to support emergency first aid responders.

You’ll also learn how to safely manage the following first aid situations:

  • Vomiting
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Bleeding
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Shock
  • Broken bones
  • Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains

Our in-depth first aid training courses involve three hours of interactive, hands-on instruction. These sessions cover a range of learning styles including readings, presentations, and practical exercises, finishing with assessment. Completing the course successfully awards you a nationally recognised first aid certificate.

WHO NEEDS A FIRST AID COURSE?

Participating in a first aid course is vital for everyone. Its importance in preparing individuals to respond effectively in urgent situations is unparalleled. Through a first aid course, you gain the capability to make a significant impact during crucial moments. Emergencies can arise anywhere – in the workplace, on the streets, or at any unexpected location and time. Mastery of first aid skills empowers you to act confidently and assist in crisis situations.

First aid training is indispensable in every work environment, not only for healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, and paramedics. First aid situations can occur in various settings, such as offices, schools, hospitality venues and building sites. Professionals from all fields can find immense value in obtaining a first aid certificate.

During such emergencies, there’s no time to search for instructions on performing first aid; having these skills readily available is key, and this is achieved through accredited training.

If you already hold a first aid course certification, consider taking further studies to ensure your skills are up to date and that you can react effectively in any first aid situation. Other STC specialties include our advanced first aid course and child care first aid courses.

CPR Course Tullamarine

The designated title for a CPR course is HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This course aims to equip students with the skills to identify cardiac emergencies and the appropriate methods for safe intervention.

While CPR is a component of first aid, it also stands as a distinct skill. The focused scope of a CPR course is ideal for those who are familiar with first aid but lack CPR training, or for individuals who may not have the time to complete a full first aid course but still wish to contribute in emergency situations.

In our CPR course, you will learn the essential techniques of performing CPR, including mnemonic tools to help retain these steps long-term, and the specific differences in administering CPR to adults and children. Completing the 90-minute in-person training will earn you a nationally recognised statement of attainment, certifying your skills and knowledge in CPR.

Skills Training College’s Tullamarine CPR courses are conducted from our training venue at Skyways Hotel, 113 Matthews Ave, Tullamarine, easily accessible by car and with parking options available nearby. Our first aid courses are available for $39 per person.

Tullamarine CPR Refresher Course

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) strongly advises that CPR training be refreshed every twelve months to ensure that the critical skills remain second nature. If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation where CPR is needed, you don’t want to struggle to remember what to do, you need the skills to be ingrained.

CPR refresher courses are the same as regular CPR courses in every aspect. Courses last for 90 minutes, cost $39 per person, and are conducted from our training room at Skyways Hotel, 113 Matthews Ave, Tullamarine.

Enrolment & Eligibility

Skills Training College’s courses in first aid and CPR have virtually no entry requirements for students. There are no previous academic or professional qualifications necessary to enrol. However, all students must meet the following minimum criteria to enrol in a first aid course:

  • Basic written and verbal English is needed to engage with the course materials and complete the training and assessment activities.
  • Students must be at least 14 years of age. Any student under the age of 18 must submit a signed Parental Consent Form at least 48 hours before commencement of training.
  • Students require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. If you’ve studied before you may already have one which you can find by searching online.
  • Basic levels of fitness and physical ability.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No, a first aid certificate does not expire. However, first aid is constantly changing and evolving, and as such it is strongly recommended that first aid refresher training be taken every three years to ensure that your skills and knowledge remain current.

Skills Training College offers refresher first aid courses in Tullamarine to ensure your first aid experience never falls behind.

Like a first aid certificate, CPR training does not technically expire but should be updated regularly with refresher training. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends taking CPR refresher training every twelve months.

If your first aid certification is lost or stolen, simply reach out to us and we can provide you with the steps that you need to take in order to receive a replacement.

Completing a CPR course is part of a first aid certification. As such, a first aid qualification can be considered further learning from a CPR course. Advanced resuscitation qualifications are another example.

Completing a first aid course opens up several avenues of further learning in the field of first aid. These advanced first aid courses include:

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
  • HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
  • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
  • HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources

Not all of these qualifications are available through Skills Training College.

These courses are assessed through practical training and assessment activities.

First aid courses test your first aid response knowledge and first aid skills. Skills you will be tested on include your ability to provide basic emergency life support. There may also be written evaluation.

CPR assessment consists entirely of being observed on your ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Emergencies can occur anywhere, even around the office. As such, we also highly recommend first aid workplace training to ensure you’re ready to assist in a first aid situation, no matter what the emergency is. First Aid and CPR training shows your commitment and passion to your workplace and can help open pathways to continuing professional development.
