WHO NEEDS A FIRST AID COURSE?

Everyone must undergo first aid training. The significance of such training cannot be emphasised enough. Completing a first aid course will equip you with the ability to make a significant impact during critical moments. Emergencies can arise anywhere, such as at work, on the streets, and even at home. Being knowledgeable in first aid empowers you to intervene effectively when accidents or critical situations occur.

First aid skills are vital in all workplaces, not only in healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics. Accidents and emergencies can happen in almost any working environment, including offices, schools, hospitality venues, retail, manufacturing, and construction. There isn’t a single profession that would not find value in having first aid certified individuals.

For those who already have first aid training qualifications, consider advancing your skills. Keeping your first aid abilities sharp ensures you are always prepared to handle any situation effectively. We offer advanced courses in first aid and specialised training in child first aid.

CPR Course Mount Gravatt

The course designator for a CPR training program is HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This course specifically focuses on equipping learners with the skills to identify cardiac emergencies and the appropriate measures to respond safely.

While CPR is a component of first aid, it stands as a distinct skill set. The specific concentration of a CPR course benefits those who are already versed in first aid but lack CPR knowledge, or for those who may not have the time to engage in a comprehensive first aid course but still wish to be effective in emergencies.

CPR is essentially an emergency first aid course that teaches basic life support. In the CPR course, participants will learn the essential procedures for performing CPR, mnemonic aids to retain the CPR steps long after the course completion, as well as understanding the variations in performing CPR on adults versus children.

Upon completing the 90-minute in-person training, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment as evidence of their newly acquired skills and knowledge in CPR.

Mount Gravatt CPR Refresher Course

It is highly recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) that CPR training should be renewed every year to ensure that these essential skills remain sharp and instinctive. During an emergency that requires CPR, these skills must come naturally to you, without having to recall the procedures under pressure.

Enrolment & Eligibility

Skills Training College provides first aid and CPR courses with minimal entry requirements. You don’t need any prior academic or professional experience to register. However, there are certain essential criteria that students must meet to enrol in a first aid course:

  • A fundamental understanding of written and spoken English is necessary for engaging with course materials and completing training and assessment activities.
  • Students must be a minimum of 14 years old. Those under 18 are required to provide a Parental Consent Form, signed and submitted at least 48 hours before the training begins.
  • A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number is essential for enrolment. If you have previously undertaken any study, you might already have one, which can be retrieved online.
  • A basic level of physical fitness and capability is also required.
