First aid is essential for everyone; its importance can’t be understated.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation teaches students how to recognise cardiac arrest and effectively assist by performing resuscitation techniques.
Being able to perform CPR is part of first aid training already, but it is also a separate discipline that needs to be renewed every year.
A CPR training course is ideal for those who are already familiar with first aid but lack CPR skills, or who cannot fit a full course into their busy schedule, but want to help in emergencies.
Attending a CPR training course teaches you how to do CPR on adults and children, as well as memorisation methods for long-term retention of the necessary skills. After completing the 90-minute in-person course, you will be given a nationally recognised statement of attainment.
Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines advise that HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training should be done at a minimum on an annual basis to ensure that your knowledge of CPR techniques is retained and kept up to date.

Practical examinations are performed to assess first-aid training. After completing your face-to-face training, you will be evaluated on your competence and knowledge of first-aid procedures, as well as your ability to respond effectively in a realistic first-aid scenario. There may also be a written assessment.
The CPR assessment is based purely on your ability to do CPR under supervision.
