The first aid course is officially known as HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This first aid course is indispensable for learning the skills for responding to emergencies, accidents, and other life-threatening situations. Among the emergency first aid response skills you’ll learn in one of our courses are wound cleaning and dressing, how to correctly use an Epi-Pen, the importance of the recovery position, how to provide basic emergency life support, and how to accurately describe an emergency situation over the phone to best assist emergency responders. You’ll also learn how to safely manage the following first aid situations:
Our first aid training courses consist of three (3) hours of in-person, hands-on training in a classroom environment. Your session will consist of various readings, presentations, and practical hands-on activities, concluding with assessment activities. Upon your successful completion, you will be awarded with a nationally recognised first aid certificate.
Taking part a first aid course is essential for anyone and everyone. It’s importance cannot be overstated. By taking a first aid course, you will be able to make a difference when it really matters. Emergencies can occur in the workplace, out on the street, or at any place or any time you can think of. Knowing first aid puts the power to step in and assist during times of crisis in your hands.
If you previously completed a first aid course consider taking further studies to ensure your skills are at their peak and that you can truly step into any first aid situation. Our other specialties include our advanced first aid course and child first aid courses.
First aid and CPR knowledge are essential. A medical emergency can occur at any time, and you can’t help if you don’t know these vital and practical skills. In these moments, you don’t have the time to look up how to perform first aid, you need to already know, and the only way to know is by taking a course. Don’t wait for professional medical assistance to arrive, put yourself in a position to help by taking a first aid course.
Skills Training College has a range of courses that can help you save a life. All you need to do in order to get started is book yourself into one today and start your journey toward earning a first aid certification.
The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or better known as a CPR course, is designed to teach students how to recognise when a cardiac emergency is occurring, as well as the steps necessary to intervene safely.
CPR is one aspect of performing first aid, but it is its own discipline. The narrower focus of a CPR course is for anyone who already knows first aid but does not know CPR, or who does not have enough time to fit a full first aid course into their busy schedule but who still wants to be able to make a difference in an emergency.
When you take part in a CPR course you’ll learn the steps required to perform CPR, mnemonic devices to ensure you remember the steps of CPR for years after completing your course, and the differences in performing CPR for adults and for children. After your 90 minute face-to-face training course, you’ll be rewarded with a nationally recognised statement of attainment, proving your newfound skills and knowledge.
The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) highly recommends retaking a CPR course every twelve months to ensure that the critical skills remain second nature. If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation where CPR is required, you don’t want to struggle to remember what to do, you need the skills to be innate.
A CPR refresher course is the same as a regular CPR course in every regard. Courses last for 90 minutes, cost $39 per person, and are conducted from our Elizabeth training venue.
Skills Training College’s courses in first aid and CPR have almost no entry requirements. There are no previous academic or professional qualifications needed to enrol. However, all students must meet the following minimum criteria:
