The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course is an essential training programme for building the skills to respond to emergencies. Our first aid training Geelong course teaches various emergency response skills, such as proper wound cleaning and dressing techniques, using an Epi-Pen correctly, the importance of the recovery position, and effectively communicating an emergency situation over the phone to assist emergency responders. Other first aid scenarios this course will teach you how to manage include:
Our first aid training courses involve three hours of direct, practical instruction under the guidance of one of our expert trainers. You’ll be walked through some theoretical readings and presentations, some practical training activities, and conclude your day with a practical assessment administered by your trainer. Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised first aid certificate, signifying their readiness to handle any emergency situation that life can throw at them.
Regardless of who you are, being proactive in learning first aid is crucial. Medical emergencies can occur without warning. In a real-life emergency situation, there’s no time to research how to administer first aid on the spot; you must have this knowledge in advance. The best, and really the only way to be prepared is to acquire it with an accredited first aid course.
Enrolling in a first aid course is something that everyone should do. Learning first aid equips you to be an effective responder in any situation. Emergencies can occur anywhere, including the workplace, out on the street, at home, or anywhere else that you can imagine.
First aid is an essential skill for any job, not just for medical professionals. Anyone can be called on to deliver a first aid response, and the only way to be effective is to know what you’re doing by taking a first aid course.
Officially known as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, this CPR training course teaches students how to identify when CPR is necessary, and the life-saving steps that they’ll need to take in order to deliver a safe and effective intervention.
While CPR is a component of first aid, it is also a skill in its own right. This course is designed for those students who may already know general first aid skills but who lack CPR training, or for those who do not have the time to undertake a full first aid training course but still wish to be able to respond in emergency situations in some capacity. It is also perfect for those who need to refresh their existing CPR skills to keep them second nature.
In Skills Training College’s CPR course, participants will learn the steps for performing CPR and how CPR techniques differ between adults and children. After completing this 90-minute in-person training and demonstrating their CPR skills with a practical assessment, they will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.
Skills Training College’s first aid and CPR courses have no prerequisites for you to enrol. However, all students must meet the following minimum requirements:
The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends retaking CPR training yearly to keep these critical skills up to date. In an emergency requiring CPR, it is vital that these abilities are instinctive; you need to be able to remember how to perform CPR without thinking so that you can take immediate action.

CPR training, as with first aid training, does not technically expire but should still be renewed regularly through refresher training.
