FIRST AID COURSE SOUTH MORANG
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is perfect for learning the skills needed to respond to emergencies, injuries, and scenarios where someone is in need of basic medical assistance.
Your professional first aid trainer will walk you through the steps of washing and bandaging injuries, using an Epi-Pen, understanding the need of the recovery position, giving basic emergency life support, and accurately reporting the incident to the response team over the phone. Through our first-aid training courses, you will learn how to handle the following issues:
Vomiting
Choking
Asthma
Bleeding
Anaphylaxis
Shock
Broken bones
Dislocation, fractures, sprains, and strains
Following three hours of trainer-led instruction including readings, lectures, demonstrations, and practical training exercises, our first aid certification classes end with a written exam and a practical evaluation. After which, a nationally recognised first-aid certificate attesting to your newly acquired knowledge and abilities will be yours.
WHO NEEDS A FIRST AID COURSE?
Learning first aid is an essential skill for everyone, regardless of their background. Being prepared to handle any unexpected emergencies at home, work or in public areas can make all the difference.
Our South Morang first aid courses can provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to assist in such situations.
First aid skills can be useful in many different situations and can help save lives. Everyone can benefit from learning first aid, and our course makes it accessible to anyone, not just healthcare professionals.
By enrolling in our training, you can be confident and prepared to help in case of an emergency.
This course is formally known as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Students taking this course will learn how to recognise cardiac arrest and correctly administer resuscitation to people in need.
Though it is covered in first aid training, CPR is also a separate, independent field. A CPR course is a great option if you want to help in an emergency but lack the skills to do CPR, or if you can’t fit a full first aid course into your busy lifestyle.
Taking a CPR course will teach you how to treat unconscious victims of all ages, including the differences between performing CPR on adults and children. After the ninety-minute in-person session, you will get a declaration of achievement that is recognised across Australia.
SOUTH MORANG CPR REFRESHER COURSE
For up-to-date knowledge of CPR techniques, the Australian Resuscitation Council advises yearly CPR refresher training. Periodic retraining for employees is also sometimes needed by organisations to guarantee adherence to their first aid regulations.
You should be able to conduct CPR automatically and without any hesitation if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation when you have to, and refresher training can help you ensure that the techniques remain second nature.
Enrolment & Eligibility
The prerequisites for attending Skills Training College’s first aid and CPR courses are low. Enrolment requirements are not academic or professional. But every student has to fulfil the following basic requirements:

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required of all students. You ought to already have one if you have studied before; if not, you can quickly find it by searching online.

Though a first-aid certificate never expires, it is advisable to regularly update one’s expertise with refresher training. First aid protocols are continually changing, hence it is highly recommended that you get first aid refresher training every three years to ensure your knowledge, abilities, and qualification are current.
Skills Training College provides first aid refresher classes so you can be sure your training and expertise are still relevant.
A CPR certificate does not expire but it does need to be kept up to date through routine refresher training. The Australian Resuscitation Council advises annual CPR refresher training.
In some parts of Australia we are able to offer online or hybrid training options. Generally speaking however, online training is not an option for CPR or first aid in South Morang. Both first aid and CPR require practical skills which can only be evaluated through face-to-face, onsite training and assessment activities and not through online learning. As such, our first aid training must be conducted on site and we cannot offer online first aid courses in this instance.
Our first aid training is conducted in person in-person in a classroom setting. The course content consists of practical activities such as providing CPR to a training mannikin, meaning there are no first aid online classes.
Everyone, not just medical professionals, should consider a first aid or CPR course. It’s particularly beneficial for childcare workers and essential for workplace readiness. First aid and CPR training showcase commitment and passion, opening pathways to professional development.
Completing CPR is part of a first aid certification. As such, our first aid qualification can be considered further learning from CPR.
Completing an emergency first aid course opens up several avenues of further learning in the field of first aid. Further education opportunities are available in the fields of remote first aid, and first aid for education and care settings. Specific examples include:
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
Not all of these qualifications are available through Skills Training College.
