Additionally, you will have the opportunity to actively engage in the management of scenarios such as:
Vomiting
Choking
Asthma
Bleeding
Anaphylaxis
Shock
Broken bones
Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains
Our emergency first aid training includes three hours of in-person, hands-on activities, where you’ll do readings, watch presentations, and participate in practical exercises. After completing the assessment, you’ll receive a nationally recognised first aid certificate on the same day.
WHO NEEDS A FIRST AID COURSE?
It is imperative that all individuals take a first aid course, as its significance cannot be overstated. You will be able to make a significant impact in critical situations by learning how to provide fundamental emergency support through the study of first aid. Regardless of the location, emergencies can occur at work, on the street, in institutions, at home, or most any other location. Knowing what to do enables you to intervene and provide assistance when it is most required.
Every workplace should have the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course. There is no profession that would not benefit from having an individual trained in first aid; it is not exclusively for physicians, nurses, or paramedics.
It is advisable to maintain your proficiency in the event that you have previously completed the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course. You never know when they may be of use. We are a premier registered training organisation that provides a diverse selection of courses to assist you in broadening your understanding of healthcare. There is always more to learn, regardless of whether you are interested in a juvenile first aid course or an advanced first aid course.
The official course designation is HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and its purpose is to instruct students on the identification of a cardiac emergency and the requisite procedures for safe intervention.
CPR is a distinct discipline, albeit a specific aspect of first aid. The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course is the perfect choice for individuals who are already familiar with first aid but lack CPR skills, or for those who have a limited amount of time but still wish to make a difference in an emergency.
The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course will provide you with the knowledge necessary to confidently perform CPR, as well as mnemonic devices to aid in the retention of the steps for years to come. Additionally, you will learn the distinctions between performing CPR on adults and children. Your new skills and knowledge will be demonstrated through a nationally recognised certification of attainment upon completion of the 90-minute face-to-face programme.

Technically, no, a first aid certificate doesn’t have an expiration date. But, first aid techniques and guidelines are always changing. That’s why it’s a good idea to take a refresher course every three years. It helps keep your skills sharp and your knowledge up-to-date.
At Skills Training College, we offer refresher courses to make sure you’re always in the know with the latest first aid practices.
If you’ve lost your first aid or CPR certificate, don’t worry. Just get in touch with us, and we’ll help you through the process of getting a replacement.
At Skills Training College, you can start the theoretical parts of these courses online and go at your own pace. But, to finish the program, you’ll need to do some face-to-face assessments. This is true for both accredited first aid and CPR courses.
For first aid, you’ll go through practical training where you’ll be tested on your knowledge and skills. After the in-person training, you’ll show how well you can provide emergency life support on adult and child manikins and use first aid techniques in realistic situations. There will also be a brief written test.
For CPR, the focus is entirely on your ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which will be observed during the assessment.
Anyone and everyone should complete an accredited first aid training course, not just medical professionals. Knowing these vital, life-saving first aid skills can help you make a real difference on the scene of a medical emergency.
Outside of medical and healthcare professionals, a first aid certificate is especially advantageous for anyone who works with children, whether it’s at home or in one of the country’s education sectors.
Emergencies can happen anywhere, even around the office. As such, we also strongly recommend first aid workplace training to ensure you’re ready to assist with a quality first aid response no matter what the situation or emergency is. First aid and CPR training showcases your commitment and passion to your workplace, and can help open pathways to further professional development.
What Pathways To Further Learning Do These Courses Provide?
Completing an accredited CPR course is an integral component of a first aid certification. As such, a first aid qualification can be considered further learning from a CPR course. Advanced resuscitation qualifications are another example.
In this way, enrolling in an emergency first aid course opens up several avenues of further learning in the field of first aid. Advanced education opportunities are available in the fields of remote first aid, and first aid for education and care settings. Specific advanced first aid courses include:
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
Not all of these qualifications are available through Skills Training College.
