WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

The official name for the first aid course is “HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.” This course is designed to teach individuals how to respond to emergencies, accidents, and other life-threatening situations. During this course, you will learn various emergency first aid response skills, including wound cleaning and dressing, proper usage of an Epi-Pen, the importance of the recovery position, providing basic emergency life support, and accurately describing an emergency over the phone to assist emergency responders in the best way possible.

You’ll also learn how to safely manage the following first aid situations:

  • Vomiting
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Bleeding
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Shock
  • Broken bones
  • Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains

Our first aid training courses consist of three (3) hours of practical, in-person training. This includes reading materials, presentations, and hands-on activities. The session will end with assessment activities. Once you complete the training, you will receive a nationally recognised first aid certificate.

WHO NEEDS A FIRST AID COURSE?

It is highly recommended that everyone take a first aid course. Learning first aid can make a significant difference when it truly matters. Emergencies can happen anywhere and at any time, whether it’s in the workplace, on the street, or elsewhere. Having a basic knowledge of first aid will give you the ability to intervene and provide assistance during times of crisis. It’s always better to be prepared for the unexpected.

Every workplace must prioritise first aid as an essential skill, regardless of whether it is a healthcare setting or not. Emergencies can happen in any place, including offices, schools, or homes. Obtaining a first aid certificate can be beneficial for professionals in any industry.

In such situations, you may not have the time to look up how to perform first aid, so it’s crucial to already know the necessary skills.

If you have already completed a first aid course consider taking further studies to ensure your skills are at their peak and that you can truly step into any first aid situation. Our other specialties include our advanced first aid course and child first aid courses.

CPR Course Joondalup

Our CPR course is officially named “HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.” This course is designed to teach students how to recognise and safely intervene in a cardiac emergency.

Performing CPR is a critical aspect of providing first aid, but it requires separate training as it is a distinct skill. A CPR course is specifically tailored for individuals who have a basic understanding of first aid but lack knowledge of CPR or are unable to undergo full first aid training. By taking this course, you will acquire the necessary skills to provide life-saving assistance in emergencies.

During the course, you will learn how to perform CPR step by step. You will also be taught mnemonic devices that will help you remember the CPR steps for years to come. Furthermore, you will learn the differences between performing CPR on adults and children. Once you complete the 90-minute face-to-face training course, you will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment that proves your newly acquired skills.

Skills Training College’s Joondalup CPR courses are conducted from our training venue at 83 Boas Ave, Joondalup. We also offer training from our other locations in Armadale, Fremantle, Gosnells, Innaloo, Midland, Welshpool, Osborne Park, Perth, Rockingham and Subiaco. Our first aid courses are available for $39 per person.

Joondalup CPR Refresher Course

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends that individuals in relevant fields should update or renew their CPR training every twelve months. This is to ensure that the essential skills are always reflexive, and in case of an emergency, one should not struggle, as their CPR skills must be instinctive.

A CPR refresher course is the same as a regular CPR course in every regard. Courses last for 90 minutes, cost $39 per person, and are conducted from our training room at 83 Boas Ave, Joondalup.

Enrolment & Eligibility

Skills Training College’s courses in first aid and CPR have virtually no entry requirements for students. There are no previous academic or professional qualifications necessary to enrol. However, all students must meet the following minimum criteria to enrol in a first aid course:

First aiders and CPR are broad practices whereas CPR are specific. During the first aid classes, you will learn about the various emergencies which can lead to life-threatening injuries. A topic that is taught to you is the remission of breath and the need for the use of cardiac arrest and CPR.

Completing a CPR course is part of a first aid certification. As such, a first aid qualification can be considered further learning from a CPR course. Advanced resuscitation qualifications are another example.

Completing a first aid course opens up several avenues of further learning in the field of first aid. These advanced first aid courses include:

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
  • HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
  • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
