The first aid course Skills Training College offers is officially known as HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and follows the Queensland Government criteria to credit the student with a nationally recognised qualification. This course is indispensable for gaining the skills required to effectively deal with emergencies, accidents and other life-threatening situations. Our courses cover a range of emergency first aid response skills, including wound cleaning and dressing, proper Epi-Pen usage, understanding the importance of the recovery position, providing basic emergency life support, and effectively describing emergencies when contacting emergency responders.
You’ll also learn how to safely manage the following first aid situations:
Our first aid courses include three (3) hours of in-person, hands-on training. During your session, you will engage in different readings, presentations and practical activities. The session will end with assessment activities. Once you complete the course, you will receive a nationally recognised first aid certificate.
Anyone and everyone should prioritise taking a first aid course and its value cannot be over emphasised. Enrolling in a first aid course can have a significant impact in critical situations. The possibility of emergencies exists in the workplace, on the street, or in any location, so acquiring first aid skills allows you to take control and provide assistance when emergencies occur.
Every workplace needs to have first aid available, not just doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare professionals. First aid emergencies have the potential to happen in various locations like the office, schools and even at home, so there’s no profession to whom first aid certificates are not beneficial.
If you do not possess these vital and practical skills, you might not be able to assist when needed. During such critical moments, you will not have enough time to research and discover how to perform first aid. Therefore, it is essential to take a course to learn the necessary skills ahead of time.
If you have already completed a first aid course consider taking further studies to ensure your skills are at their peak and that you can truly step into any first aid situation. Our other specialties include our advanced first aid course and child first aid courses.
The CPR course, officially known as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, teaches students to recognise cardiac emergencies and safely intervene.
Performing CPR is a crucial element of first aid. However, it requires specialised training. CPR courses are designed for individuals who are already familiar with first aid but lack that specific knowledge of advanced CPR techniques. It is also beneficial for those with busy schedules who cannot commit to a full first aid course but still want to be equipped to handle emergencies.
By taking a CPR course with STC, you will learn the necessary steps to perform CPR like mnemonic devices that will help you remember them for years after completing the course. You will also learn about the differences between performing CPR for adults and children. After completing the 90-minute face-to-face training course, you will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment, which will prove your newly acquired skills and knowledge.
