Vomiting
Choking
Asthma
Bleeding
Anaphylaxis
Shock
Broken bones
Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains
Our first aid training courses consist of three (3) hours of in-person, hands-on training. Your session will consist of various readings, presentations and practical activities, concluding with assessment activities. Upon completion, you will be awarded a nationally recognised first aid certificate.
Taking a first aid course is essential for anyone and everyone. Its importance cannot be overstated. By taking a first aid course, you will make a difference when it matters. Emergencies can occur in the workplace, out on the street or any place or any time you can think of. Knowing first aid puts the power to step in and assist during times of crisis in your hands.
First aid is essential to any workplace. It’s not just for doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare workers. First aid emergencies can occur anywhere, in the office, at schools, and even at home. There’s no profession to whom first aid certificates are not beneficial.
A medical crisis can happen unexpectedly and without knowing these skills your ability to assist will be curtailed. During such critical moments, there is no time to search for instructions on how to administer first aid. You must already possess this knowledge, and the only way to acquire it is by enrolling in a course.
If you have already completed a first aid course consider taking further studies to ensure your skills are at their peak and that you can truly step into any first aid situation. Our other specialties include our advanced first aid course and child first aid courses.
The official name for a CPR course is HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This course is designed to teach students how to recognise when a cardiac emergency occurs and the steps necessary to intervene safely.
CPR is one aspect of performing first aid, but it is its discipline. The narrower focus of a CPR course is for anyone who already knows first aid but does not know CPR, or who does not have enough time to fit a full first aid course into their busy schedule but who still wants to be able to make a difference in an emergency.
When you take a CPR course you’ll learn the steps required to perform CPR, mnemonic devices to ensure you remember the steps of CPR for years after completing your course, and the differences in performing CPR for adults and children. After your 90-minute face-to-face training course, you’ll be rewarded with a nationally recognised statement of attainment, proving your newfound skills and knowledge.
The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) strongly recommends that CPR training be retaken every twelve months to ensure that the critical skills remain second nature. If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation where CPR is required, you don’t want to struggle to remember what to do, you need the skills to be innate.
A CPR refresher course is the same as a regular CPR course in every regard. Courses last for 90 minutes, cost $39 per person, and are conducted from our training room at 6 Edwin Flack Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park.
Skills Training College’s courses in first aid and CPR have virtually no entry requirements. There are no previous academic or professional qualifications necessary to enrol.

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
