WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

HOW YOU'LL LEARN

In our Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), you’ll engage in interactive, in-person practical workshops and industry-specific work placement to gain job-ready skills and knowledge for the disability and community care sector.

IN-PERSON PRACTICAL LEARNING

Over the course of your certificate you’ll join us in class twice a week and be required to attend 6 in-person practical workshops including your Free Manual Handling certification.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Getting started in Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is easy! 

There’s no previous academic or work experience requirements to enrol. However there are some minimum eligibility requirements all students have to meet including:

18 YEARS OLD

Students must be at least 18 years old to enrol in this course

ACCESS TO A COMPUTER & INTERNET

Students must have access to a computer and reliable internet connection in order to complete any online components of your course.

WRITTEN & VERBAL

Students must possess basic proficiency in written and verbal English.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

Students must possess basic physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as moving patients.

International students looking to join our CRICOS registered Disability Support course must meet the following eligibility criteria:

LEARNING TO FIT YOUR SCHEDULE

Over the course of your certificate you’ll be required to attend a minimum of six in-person, practical sessions including HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Handling.

These sessions are designed to give you crucial hands-on experience that builds your practical knowledge and skills to effectively work in the disability and community care industry.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) course typically runs for 26 weeks, comprising both theoretical and practical training sessions and 120 hours of work placement.

At present, Skills Training College only offers this disability support certification for international students in Adelaide & Brisbane.

For International students we offer weekly enrolments. At Skills Training College, Certificate III in Individual Support is a 26 Week course that includes all theoretical studies, face-to-face, practical workshops and 120 hours of work placement.

Course fees for Certificate III in Individual Support can be paid upfront or Skills Training College also offers flexible payment plans for international students. Submit your enrollment enquiry to find out more. 

STC may assist students with work placement if required. Duration of work placement is 120 hours (approximately four (4) weeks). 

The following are requirements prior to work placement and all costs are the student responsibility:

  • National Police Check Clearance Certificate
  • Working with children check
  • NDIS Worker Screening check (if applicable)
  • Vulnerable Person Employment Check (if applicable)
  • First Aid qualification
  • COVID19 vaccinations (minimum 3)
  • Flu vaccinations (may be required for particular organisations)
  • Associated uniform costs for work placement (e.g. enclosed shoes, black pants, student shirt)

Please note: requirements for work placement can vary in certain jurisdictions. Consult with our education team for more details prior to commencing your placement.

 

International students looking to join our CRICOS registered Individual Support (Disability) course must meet the following conditions:

  • Current Passport
  • Eligible Visa or willing to obtain
  • Highest Qualification Certificate and Transcript (Australia and/or Overseas)
  • Current or past Confirmation of Enrolment from another provider (if applicable) – this may be used as English evidence
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Letter of Release (or any document authorising your transfer if currently enrolled in another education provider in Australia)
  • Vocational qualifications completed within Australia (including short courses, first aid)
  • Credit Transfer Application (if applicable)
  • English Language Qualification (IELTS, PTE, or other)
  • Recent completion (3 months) Australian ELICOS Course with a result of Upper Intermediate.
