It is crucial that everyone learn first aid. This cannot be emphasised enough. You will be able to help when it counts by being able to administer basic emergency life support after completing a first aid course.
In the workplace, on the street, in a school or other education and care setting, or anywhere else you can think of, emergencies can happen at any time. Being knowledgeable about first aid techniques gives you the ability to intervene and help.
HLTAID011 Having First Aid on hand is crucial for every business. It isn’t exclusive to medical professionals like doctors, nurses, paramedics, and others. First aid certifications are useful for all professions in some capacity.
The course is officially titled HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Its primary goal is to instruct students on the identification of a cardiac emergency and the implementation of the requisite measures to ensure the safety of the intervention.
CPR is an essential component of first aid and necessitates a distinct set of skills and knowledge. The course is intended for individuals who are already proficient in first aid but require instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or have a demanding schedule that prevents them from enrolling in a full course.
The course will equip you with the necessary skills to confidently administer CPR, remember the steps for an extended period using mnemonic devices, and comprehend the distinctions between performing CPR on adults and children.
Your skills and knowledge will be validated by a nationally recognised statement of attainment upon completion of the 90-minute face-to-face training.
The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines strongly advise that HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training be retaken every twelve months to guarantee that your comprehension of CPR techniques remains current.
In order to comply with their first aid regulations, numerous organisations mandate that you participate in this refresher training. In the event that you are ever in an emergency situation and require CPR, it is imperative that you are well-versed in the necessary skills to ensure that you are able to perform the procedure without difficulty.
At Skills Training College, there are essentially no prerequisites for enrolment in courses such as CPR and first aid. Enrolment is not contingent upon prior academic or professional qualifications. Nevertheless, in order to enrol in a first aid course, all candidates must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
In order to participate in the course materials and complete the training and assessment activities, it is necessary to possess a basic understanding of both written and spoken English.
Students must be at least 14 years of age. A signed Parental Consent Form must be submitted by any student under the age of 18 at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of training. Skills Training College offers refresher courses to ensure your first aid experience never falls behind.
CPR training does not technically expire but should be updated regularly with refresher training. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends taking CPR refresher training every twelve months.

No, online training is not an option for CPR or first aid. Both first aid and CPR require practical skills which can only be evaluated through face-to-face, onsite training and assessment activities and not through online learning. As such, our first aid training must be conducted on site and we cannot offer an online first aid course.
Our first aid training is conducted in person in-person in a classroom setting. The course content consists of practical activities such as providing CPR to a training mannikin, meaning there are no first aid online classes.
First aid instruction is assessed through practical assessment activities.
To ensure you have the knowledge required, after a first aid course we test your emergency first aid response knowledge and first aid skills. After completing your face-to-face training, skills you will be tested on include your ability to respond effectively and provide basic emergency life support, your ability and knowledge of first aid techniques, your emergency first aid response skills, and your ability to provide first aid assistance in a realistic first aid emergency. There may also be a written evaluation.
CPR assessment consists entirely of observing your ability to perform CPR under supervision.
Anyone and everyone should take a first aid or CPR course, not just medical professionals. Knowing these vital, life-saving skills can help you make a real difference.
Outside of medical and healthcare professionals, a first aid certificate is particularly beneficial to anyone who works in child care, whether it’s at home or education workers in a school.
Emergencies can occur anywhere, even around the office. As such, we also highly recommend first aid workplace training to ensure you’re ready to assist in a first aid situation, no matter what the situation is. First aid and CPR training shows your commitment and passion to your workplace, and can help open pathways to continuing professional development. First aid classes really are for everyone.
Completing CPR is part of a first aid certification. As such, our first aid qualification can be considered further learning from CPR.
