Your first aid trainer will guide you through essential steps such as cleaning and bandaging wounds, using an EpiPen, understanding the importance of the recovery position, providing basic emergency life support in a medical emergency, and accurately reporting incidents over the phone. During our training sessions, you’ll learn how to manage:

  • Vomiting
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Bleeding
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Shock
  • Broken bones
  • Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains

The course includes three hours of face-to-face training sessions featuring readings, lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. It concludes with a written test and a practical evaluation.

Leading First Aid Training Newcastle

CPR Course NORTHCOTE

This course, officially known as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, teaches students how to recognise sudden cardiac arrest and correctly perform resuscitation on individuals in need.

While CPR is included in first aid training, it is also a distinct and independent field. A CPR course is an excellent choice if you want to assist in emergencies but lack CPR skills, or if a full first aid course doesn’t fit into your busy schedule.

In a CPR course, you will learn how to treat unconscious victims of all ages, including the differences between performing CPR on adults and children. After the ninety-minute in-person session, you will receive a statement of attainment that is recognised across Australia.

NORTHCOTE CPR Refresher Course

To stay updated with the latest CPR techniques, the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends annual CPR refresher training. Many organisations also require periodic retraining for employees to ensure compliance with their first aid regulations.

In an emergency, you should be able to perform CPR instinctively and confidently. Refresher training helps reinforce these techniques, ensuring they remain second nature.

Enrolment & Eligibility

There are no specific prerequisites for enrolling in Skills Training College’s first aid and CPR courses. Enrollment does not require prior academic or professional qualifications. Nevertheless, all students must meet the following basic criteria:

  • A basic level of proficiency in spoken and written English for completion of course materials, understanding instruction, and assessment activities.
  • The minimum age requirement for students is eighteen, although younger applicants may enrol with appropriate permission from their parents or guardians.
  • All students require a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have studied before, you should already have one; if not, you can easily obtain one online.
  • Basic levels of physical ability to be able to perform CPR.
