Our HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course is perfect for anyone looking for an introduction to first aid. Training provided in this course includes skills needed to respond to emergencies and accidents, and how to provide basic first aid to people in need.
You will receive training with our first aid trainer and team to learn important skills such as dressing wounds, safely using an Epi-Pen, placing someone in the recovery position, and describing emergencies over the phone for emergency responders.
You’ll also learn how to safely manage the following first aid situations:
- Vomiting

- Asthma

- Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- Broken bones
- Dislocations, fractures, sprains, and strains
Our first aid course at Skills Training College lasts 3 hours and includes practical training, readings, presentations, and an assessment. Upon completion, students receive a nationally recognised certification.

CPR Course CHELTENHAM
Officially known as HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, this course teaches students the skills to recognise when CPR is required and how to safely and effectively perform it.
While CPR training is included in a basic first aid course, CPR is its own discipline and requires its own skills and knowledge. A CPR training course is for those people who already know some basic first aid but would like to learn CPR, or who are unable to take a full first aid course due to their busy schedule.
Skills Training College’s CPR training course teaches students the seven steps to safely and effectively perform CPR, some mnemonic devices to remember the steps of CPR, as well as the differences needed to perform CPR for children compared to the needs of an adult.
Our CPR training course is only 90 minutes long. After completing this course successfully, students are awarded a nationally recognised statement of attainment in CPR.
Enrolment & Eligibility
Our first aid, CPR, and CPR refresher training courses have no academic or work experience based requirements to enrol. All students need to do is to meet the following basic prerequisites:
- Students will need a basic understanding of both written and verbal English. This ensures they’re equipped to understand the course training materials and their trainer.
- Students must be at least 14 years of age. Any student under the age of 18 must submit a signed Parental Consent Form at least 48 hours before commencement of training
- Students will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. If you’ve studied before you may already have one which you can find by searching online.
- Basic levels of fitness and physical ability
CHELTENHAM CPR Refresher Course
The Australian Resuscitation Council states that CPR training must be taken once a year in order to remain valid. Most workplaces will also require you to comply with these guidelines and take regular CPR training to adhere to their first aid compliance.

Does a First Aid Certificate Expire?
First aid certificates do not inherently expire, but for up-to-date skills, consider a refresher every three years. Skills Training College provides refresher courses in first aid and CPR, ensuring your capabilities stay current.
Does a CPR Certificate Expire?
While CPR training doesn’t technically expire, it’s advisable to take refresher training annually. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends this frequency, and most job positions requiring CPR compliance adhere to this schedule.
What Happens If I Lose My First Aid or CPR Certificate?
Losing your first aid or CPR certificate is not a problem. Simply reach out to us, and we’ll guide you through the steps to obtain a replacement certificate.
Can a First Aid or CPR Course Be Completed Online?
In some parts of Australia we are able to offer online or hybrid training options. Generally speaking however, online training is not an option for CPR or first aid in Cheltenham. Both first aid and CPR require practical skills which can only be evaluated through face-to-face, onsite training and assessment activities and not through online learning. As such, our first aid training must be conducted on site and we cannot offer online first aid courses in this instance.
Our first aid training is conducted in person in-person in a classroom setting. The course content consists of practical activities such as providing CPR to a training mannikin, meaning there are no first aid online classes.
